Choose Eco-Friendly Flooring
The carpets in our homes contain many allergens in the form of stain protectors, adhesives, and flame retardants. To avoid bringing these allergens into your baby’s room where he or she will be crawling all over them, have bamboo, hardwood, or cork floorings. If you want something soft, go for rugs made with natural fibers.
Opt for Low VOL Paints
The strong smell found in rooms being painted comes from the Volatile Organic Compounds, used in the paint. These compounds can be dangerous for your baby’s health. Choose low VOL, or zero VOL paints. Also, don’t shift the baby into the room for a few days. Let the fumes and the smell be diffused first.
Up-Cycle Old Furniture
While some people have reservations regarding using things that have already been used. But many believe it to be the more eco-friendly option. Try find old pieces of furniture like book cases, dressers, or other pieces that you can use in your baby’s nursery. Simply sand the piece and give it a fresh coat of paint and seal it. Make Sure That Your Baby’s Nursery Has Proper Ventilation
While choosing a room in your house, as your baby’s nursery, go for the one with the most windows and the best ventilation. Sunlight should be allowed to enter the room and the room should be aerated. The nursery is too hot or cold, have an A/C Technician come into your home for an assessment. The A/C Technician should be able to figure out if there is a problem with the ventilation system and correct it if possible.
Use an Air Purifier To Help Reduce Allergens in Your Baby’s Nursery
There are things such as mold spores, and dust mites in the air. If you have any pets, they most probably contribute their fair share of air toxins, pet dander, and other germs. The air filter will help clean the air in your babies room and reduce the amount of allergens your baby breathes. So it is highly recommended that you use air purifier in the nursery.

Choose Eco-Friendly Toys for Your Baby
Even when it comes to toys you can make a choice for the better. Stuffed toys specially should be bought with care. See if you can find any made with organic fiber. Also, be sure that you aren’t purchasing toys that use lead paint or have unsafe parts for your child.
Always Follow Safety Regulations
Make sure everything you buy fits the current standard of safety. If you are using a hand-me-down crib, consult the manufacturer to make sure that it is in sync with the safety regulations of the present. Also, make sure that the crib or any other baby gear isn’t on manufacture recall list or is unsafe for your baby.
