I have always tried to raise my children to be compassionate towards other people and yesterday my daughter amazed me. ย I was busy writing an article yesterday afternoon about the time that my daughter normally arrives home. I didn’t think to much about her being late (she rides the bus home) and sometimes she is a few minutes late. I get a a call from the school letting me know that my daughter was okay and that she was still at school. My heart skipped a beat but I was thankful that she was okay. The lady that called me said that the bus driver got ill on the way to pick up my daughter from school and that they had to send a new driver to get her.
I don’t normally brag about my children but yesterday my daughter was a hero. I wanted to share her courageous story with others.
My daughter tossed her stuff onto the couch and came over to sit down beside me. I noticed that she was in tears and told me that she saved her bus driver’s life. I told her that I was proud of her. I started asking my daughter what happened yesterday afternoon and she started sharing with me the details that unfolded yesterday.
When she went outside to get onto the bus, she immediately noticed that her bus driver was crying and that something wasn’t right. My daughter asked her bus driver, “Are you okay?” Her bus driver responded, “No! Please go get my phone from the back of the bus and go inside the school to get help.” My daughter retrieved the lady’s phone and went inside of the school to get some help. She found several people including the school nurse and they came outside to the bus to access the situation. One of the school officials ended up calling 911 to request and ambulance.
The paramedics showed up and quickly assessed the situation. Her bus driver ended up going to the hospital by ambulance because they think she was having a heart attack.
I am thankful that my daughter was attentive to the bus driver’s condition. I am proud of her for handling the situation properly so that her bus driver could get appropriate medical attention.
Has your child ever surprised you and handled an adult situation?

Awwww, way to go!! You have every right to "brag," and I wouldn't even call it bragging. Your daughter helped save a life, that's a BIG deal! You raised a sweetie!! I hope the bus driver ended up being okay?

Thank you Trica. I appreciate your comment.
It’s really wonderful that your daughter had the courage and presence to ask an adult whether she was okay. It can be scary for kids to “get involved” in anything going on with an adult. Good for her!
I agree Erika. She did a geat job.
I am glad she was attentive too. That does not happen very often. She was very brave and handled the situation just as she should. I would be proud of her too. Looks like you are doing a great job raising her.
Thank you. ๐
Thank you Esther. She is an amazing young lady.
We haven't heard from the bus driver. She is out of school this week. Hopefully, after the holiday we will hear from her bus driver.
Thank you LaVonne.
Thank you for reading. ๐
Kudos to your daughter for being aware and wanting to help others. She is indeed a hero. My son when he was in his teens went outside to put the dogs out and heard the neighbors fire alarm going off. He ran in the house and told us to call 911 because of this and he ended up saving the neighbors dog. The man was at work and he had only had smoke damage do to the fire. Thanks for sharing.
oh yes you should be a proud momma. I would be too. that bus driver was very lucky that your daughter was able to help her . Good for her!
I am thankful that my daughter was there at the right moment.
Your son was a hero too. If he wouldn't have heard the dog barking and acting quickly, the family would have potentially lost everything. Kudos to you too. ๐
