Black Night By SJ Strayhorn

Black Night by S.J. Strayhorn

Black Night By SJ StrayhornI haven’t been reading books as quickly as I was a few months ago.  I have several books in my pile, that I am slowly reading.  I wish I had more time to read but things have been crazy around my house over the last few weeks.  The kids will be heading back to school in less than a mouth and I hope that I can get back into my normal routine.  I love having the older kids home with me during the day but they do make it harder for me to get my stuff done without being interrupted several times a day.

Reading is something that I think is very important.  There are so many book choices available on the market that you and your family members should be able to find a great book that fits your reading style and the type of subjects that interest you.  This year when I started reading more books, I have found that I love a great mystery book.  I am a sucker for a book that has an awesome cover.  *Hint Hint – to all of the authors out there*  I think that I like the suspense and drama that keep me involved in the stories.  Plus, some of the books that I have read touch on subjects that are often difficult to talk about.   When I discovered S.K. Epperson’s book “Green Lake“, I contacted the author on twitter in hopes that there was a sequel to this book.  There is currently no plans for a sequel for “Green Lake”.   However, I was given the opportunity to read “Black Night” by S.J. Strayhorn, who is writing as S.K. Epperson.

Disclosure:  I received this book in exchange for a review.  All opinions of this book are 100% my own and I would never recommend a book to my readers that I didn’t enjoy myself.  This book is rated for adults due to its graphic nature.

Eugenia grew up at Fort Grant and returned to the area with her daughter one summer.  She wanted to go back and confront her past.   Eugenia knew that it was important to go back and lay the ghosts of her childhood behind so that she could move on with her life.  Strange things happened at the fort when she was growing up.  She wanted to know what happened at the fort while it was an orphanage for young children who were growing up without a family.  Eugenia lived at the orphanage as a young child and wanted to know why things happened there that shouldn’t have happened.  As she works through her fear, she gets up the nerve to tour the Fort and face the past.

Christy, I only wish that I had some time to read for just me! When I do get the chance, I enjoy reading time travel novels. Nice review, and my hubby is a huge mystery reader as well.

I wish I had more time to read. I usually read for about an hour before bed unless I am sick or exhausted. 🙂 Your husband might enjoy this book.

Thanks for the review Christy, I also love to read and it is good to know others’ opinion. Life is super fun in summer, but also hectic, then let’s add the book to our list for the future!

Sounds like a great read. I love the elements of suspense you mentioned. It sounds really good, also, because I love plots where characters overcome some sort of fear or past difficulties.

(Don’t be too hard on yourself, by the way, about having less time to read. 🙂 Glad to see you’re back!!)

Yeah, summer time is so busy so maybe once the kids are back in school and I have my routine back, I will have a bit more time to read.

I acquire books faster than I can read them, usually from a good review by someone whose opinion I respect. I haven’t found a solution yet to the backlog; I’ll just keep chipping away at the pile. Your review was enticing, Christy!

Thank you for stopping by Sharon, I love adding books to my collection as well. When I like a book I have been adding it to my review section. Great way to give back and help authors and share a great read.

Great idea, Christy, I’ll have to find a way to factor that in …

I have also found that ebooks are easier to read. I have several apps on my phone that allow me to read ebooks without taking up a bunch of room on my bookshelves.

OOOH sounds like a good one. I find the only time I read is when I am waiting in my kids room for them to fall asleep – wish I could do it more!

Yes, I have started using the Nook, Kindle, and another E-Reader for pdfs on my phone. I can read on the go or while laying in bed. 😉
