Easy, Low Cost Ideas for Kids Room

Fun Lamps

Cheap and functional IKEA lamps can get entirely new life and appearance when you take them and turn them into little works of art with your kids. Remember that chalk paint? Why not? Use them on the lamps as well and draw on them. Change the lamp covers and decoupage them with the images of your kid’s favorite cartoon characters. Use old Christmas lamps, put them into a jar and make that a night light for your brave little soldier who is not that brave when the dark comes.

Artwork

One of the funniest and the most creative ways to decorate anything in the world is to let the kid do it. If you want to make exhibitions of your kid’s drawings and paintings, make sure that you use some professional plastering services to do your wall so that you are sure that it holds on. After that, visit garage sales and thrift stores and find those big baroque-like painting frames to frame your kid’s artwork. This will be fun and effective.

It is important to have fun while decorating your kids’ room because that is the essential part of their life. Creating a fun and carefree space in a fun and carefree way is just what you and your kid need.

We’ve been fixing up our youngest’s bedroom using a lot of these tips. I just took her to Ikea to pick some new lighting for her room.

I would love to add some colored lighting to our room too. I hate the bright lights in the bedroom.

We’ve been considering chalkboard paint on one of the walls in the girls’ bathroom to remind them of the things they need to do (brush teeth, etc.).

This sounds like a great idea Scott. I need to experiment with the chalk board paint.

Wow chalkboard paint sounds very interesting and risky! Would love to give it a try.

I want to try the chalkboard paint too. I have seen so many great creations on DIY blogs.

That chalk paint sounds like a life saver to me–nothing about it is permanent so when the child gets older and his/her tastes change–Voila!! Wish this was around when I lived at home–A DO NOT DISTURB sign would have been nice–not that it would have worked if I had friends over!

Michele, I love the idea of chalk board paint too. I remember being happy when we moved into a new home when I was a teenager because my room had a lock. 😉

Yes, I framed my kids drawings and placed it in their rooms and I hope it would encourage them and helps to improve their creativity. I placed fun lamps which was made by me using wastes like plastic and other basic home wastages. This way Kids too get more interested in learning and trying handicrafts in their own. Thanks for sharing this.

I will have to do this when my youngest goes to school and comes home with his projects. 😉
