My Favorite Baby’s First Memories

Disclosure: “This review was made possible by Double Duty Divas and Pampers. I was provided product free of charge to facilitate my review, but all opinions are 100% mine.”

I was sitting at work one afternoon when I realized that aunt flo was late and I sent my husband a message so that he could swing by the store on the way home to pick up a pregnancy test. I  remember waiting until the next morning to take it because I was nervous that it would come out negative as it had in the past. So the next morning, I pee’d on a stick and it quickly came up positive. I remember a rush of emotions come over me. I was excited and anxious at the same time. It had been 10 years since I had a baby in the house. I remember calling the doctor’s office one afternoon and scheduling my first prenatal visit.

Baby’s First Photo

The first prenatal visit went great and they scheduled me for an ultrasound. When the day came for the ultrasound, my husband and I was excited to see our baby for the very first time. I was called back to the ultrasound room and I remember seeing our baby on the tech’s screen. Our baby was perfect. It is amazing how a baby grows after conception.

Feeling Movement For the First Time During Pregnancy

I remember that I was about 12 weeks along, when I first felt my baby move. Those kicks, rolls, and punches would get stronger as the days went by. Soon daddy was able to feel him move too. It is an amazing feeling.

The Big Gender Reveal

My pregnancy was flying by and before I knew it we were sitting at the doctors office for our gender ultrasound. Once the ultrasound technician confirmed the gender of our baby, she let my husband take a picture of the screen and we had a bit of fun with our friends on Facebook before we announced that we were expecting a boy.

He’s Here!

As my due date grew closer and closer, we were getting more and more excited to meet our baby boy. The day finally arrived and we drove to the hospital to prepped for my c-section. I was wheeled into the operating room and after they gave me my spinal block in my back my husband was allowed to join me. It seemed like forever as I waited for my baby to cry. All of a sudden, I heard him cry and I knew that he arrived safe and sound. They took him over to the warming bed to get him cleaned up and get his vitals. He was so tiny and beautiful.

Breastfeeding Him for The Very First Time

I was able to try breastfeed him for the very first time about an hour after I had him. He latched on and nursed for the very first time. We successfully breastfed for 18 months before I ended up weaning him.

More First Memories After My Son Was Born

As you can see, pregnancy is a fun and exciting time and filled with many first moments that you will want to capture. I remember taking a ton of photos after he was born because I wanted to cherish them forever since he was my last baby. Once your child is born, they will also have many first moments during the first year. Here are a few of my son’s first memories:

  • I grasped my son’s hand and held it after they placed him next to me on the bed so that they could wheel me to my recovery room
  • Saying I love you to my son for the very first time
  • Those tiny cries as the nurses got his vitals
  • The first kisses and snuggles
  • daddy holding him for the first time
  • first diaper change (the hospital supplied us with pampers swaddlers)
  • first dirty diaper
  • first outfit change because they messed up their clothes
  • those first visitors
  • the first night at the hospital
  • going home
  • keeping mom and dad up all night long
  • baby’s first smile
  • learning how to coo and babble
  • finding their hands
  • finding their toes
  • learning how to roll over
  • sleeping through the night
  • learning how to eat baby food or soft foods
  • how to sit up
  • crawling for the first time
  • drinking from a sippy cup
  • cruising the furniture
  • walking
  • running
  • learning how to talk
  • and the list goes on and on.

I can’t believe that this time 4 years ago, I still had 15 weeks to go in my pregnancy. Even though I was completely miserable during my third trimesters, after my son was born I immediately missed feeling him move inside of my belly.

Pampers | A Newborn Journey of Firsts

About Pampers Swaddlers

Pampers Swaddlers are now available through size 6! Pampers listened to moms who said they wanted the Pampers Swaddlers softness they know and love to be available throughout the diapering years. Swaddlers were designed to wrap your baby with superior comfort, protection and blanket-like softness, helping to take care of babies during all the precious first moments they share with their parents. The diapers offer up to 12 hours of overnight protection.

One of my favorite things about pampers swaddlers were the color changing wetness indicator. When my youngest was born, they only offered the color changing wetness indicator on Newborn and Size 1 diapers. After that you had to physically check your baby’s diaper to determine if it needed to be changed. They have an Absorb Away Liner® to pull wetness and mess away from your babies’ skin.

Pampers Swaddlers is the #1 choice of hospitals in North America!

For many, children are the pride and joy in that of every parent (or it should be). Most of my time is that of the smiles shared and every new event that arises around the corner. This has become a struggle but we overcome things by having faith and will to try new things.

I have so many wonderful memories. But I think what touches me the most was how quickly my babies knew who I was and how I seemed just as important to them as they are to me.

My favorite memory is the first time that I saw my son when he was born. I remember how surreal it was. I remember everything too – even the 3 nurses, doctor, and my husband in the room and that it was snowing fluffy snowflakes outside.
