Summer is here and today we spent some time cleaning up the house. I don’t think my kids were to thrilled with me but it is something that needed to be done. So I headed off to Walmart to pick up some cleaning supplies and drain cleaner. The kids distracted me and I totally forgot a few things, including paper towels and swiffer pads for my mom. But thankfully, I found the perfect alternative underneath my bathroom counter. My kids started looking at me a bit weird though (see below).
This afternoon my youngest son accidentally spilled some water on the kitchen floor. I quickly grabbed a Poise® Thin-Shape pad and went to work cleaning up his mess since I forgot the paper towels. I grabbed the pad because I didn’t want to dirty up another towel (it takes quite a bit of electricity to run the washer/dryer). I tossed the pad on top of the liquid and used my foot to clean it up. It worked like a charm. It was super absorbent and took care of the accident quickly.
While on the way home from Walmart, I also noticed that the back window of our SUV was super dirty. Like I mentioned earlier, I forgot paper towels on my trip. So I decided to grab another Poise® Thin-Shape pad and the bottle of glass cleaner. My daughter followed me so I had her help me with this task. 🙂 See the photos below for my side by side comparison. I just sprayed the glass cleaner on the back window and went to work. The poise pad did a great job removing the dirt and now I can safely see out my back window.
Next on our cleaning list was cleaning the bathrooms and cleaning the tile floors in our home. My oldest son came to me and asked where the Swiffer® cleaning pads were. I told him, “to look in the laundry room above the washer.” He said, “I know mom the box is empty.” Doh, someone left the empty box in the laundry room so I didn’t know that we were out. I told him to go grab another one of those Poise pads from under my sink. I peeled the sticky stuff off the back of the pad and stuck it on the Swiffer® WetJet® mop. He gave me a funny look but hey it worked like a charm.
The wrappers around the Poise® Thin-Shape pads were very soft and I immediately thought of something that I could make for the house. I grabbed a few supplies for this project:
- hanger or another wreath wire
- wire cutters if your using a hanger
- scissors
- Poise® Thin-Shape pad wrappers
- Twist tie or craft wire
Instructions
I cut the hanger and formed a circle. Then I took the twist tie because I didn’t have any craft wire and I tied the two hanger ends together. Carefully, open the individual wrappers so that you don’t tear them. Next lay them flat and cut them in to three sections lengthwise. Then cut the lengthwise sections in half except for two strips(save these for later use). Then start tying the individual strips on the hanger or wreath wire. Complete until you have covered it with all of the strips. Use the two long strips to create a hanger for your wreath. This would be perfect for a baby shower. You can add a few baby items to it.
About Light Bladder Leakage
Did you know that most women often use regular maxi pads for Light Bladder Leakage (LBL)? I know that since I have had children, I have occasional LBL especially if I sneeze with a full bladder. Every time it happens I usually say “uh oh” or “oh crap”, then I run off to change my clothes.
If you have LBL, don’t be embarrassed because it happens to roughly 45% of women in America. Gasp!! That is a lot of women and I am included in that stat. Whether you experience bladder leakage when you cough or sneeze, unknown times throughout the day, or if it comes pouring out when you stand up or get up from laying down, Poise has you covered. I once thought that this issue was strictly something that elderly people faced; however, that is just a myth. LBL is known to happen in people who are younger than 40 years old.

I don’t have leakage issues, but there is a whole group of moms in my zumba class who do & there is always a collective sigh when a song with jumps comes on!
Tee hee! That wreath takes up cycling to a whole new level. AND, I am thankful I don’t have bladder leakage issues.
LOL, this made me laugh! They really are absorbent! I think using them as a cleaning tool would totally work…though it would totally embarrass the kids too! That wreath is so cute, but no way would I tell people what it was made from!
This is cute! I guess I never thought about my pads that in depth. Love this post!
I have seen quite a few creative ideas for recycling pads! I’m past that stage, but wish I’d thought of it a few years ago, LOL!
That is actually so much cuter than I would have thought. It’s very pretty, and you’d never know that it was made from pads.
Lol imagine walking up to someone’s door and having that pad-wreath up there. I’m sure you’ll get compliments, but I’m equally excited to hear their reaction to when you tell them what it is! 🙂
This campaign has really brought out the creative energy in social media. Not sure if I’m into recycling these types of products, but I love the effort and creativity put into the post.
Some great ideas here! I don’t used pads anymore (I switched to using a menstrual cup several years ago), but I love that you’ve come up with some ways to reduce waste! I always used to think it was a huge shame when I dropped a pantyliner I opened and had to throw it out.
That wreath is super pretty, you will never know it is made from sanitary napkin wrappers. Lots of neat tips!
These are great ideas! Those poise pads must do the job so well you don’t need any other ones.
You are so resourceful! I’ve got to say that with the price of feminine products where I live, I don’t think I’d be using them for cleaning, lol! But I love that you can. One thing I did learn in First Aid was that pads are perfect for bleeding wounds (makes sense!). And since they’re always in my purse, I’m prepared for both myself and any injuries that might happen :-).
Thats a different idea. Turned out nice.
Oh the things bloggers do for paid opportunities. LOL! Well, I have to hand it to you, you were pretty clever with the uses.
I surely never thought of using those pads for cleaning. Thanks for the idea. Now I know what to do in case I run out of rags for cleaning. 🙂
Ha! I’ve really never thought of using them in that way before. I guess when you can’t find the towels right away, you have to get a little creative.
What a cute idea. The wreath looks adorable. I can imagine it inside a little girl’s bedroom.
Knock on wood that I have not reach that stage of bladder leakage yet. Lol. You have so many useful ideas for repurposing pads, but I never have any left over to need to repurpose yet.
A wreathe? Thats definitely a great creative idea!
I would never think to make a wreath out of the wrappers. The idea of cleaning the car windows is pretty ingenious
Hahaha omg how cleaver! I don’t have leakage issues but this idea is just brilliant! Totally love the wreath!
