Introducing Gerber’s 3rd Foods® Lil Bits™ And Chew U

Tracking PixelDisclosure: I participated in a blogger event to learn more about Gerber’s new line of food made especially for crawlers to help make the transition from purees to solids easier. All opinions in this post are 100% my own. I received compensation for today’s message.

I remember when all three of my children showed interest in the food that we were eating during meal time. Babies are usually ready for solids around the age of 4 to 6 months. Experts are now recommend that you hold off on introducing solids until they are closer to 6 months of age. Around 6 months of age, you can start allowing your child to sample pureed baby food that you buy from stores or make it yourself. Just remember that your child should still get a majority of their calories from breast milk or formula.

The first foods were designed so that your child can learn to use their tongue to keep foods inside of their mouth so that they can learn to swallow the food. Babies are born with a reflex that pushes their food out of their mouth until their digestive system is ready to handle solid foods. Then once your baby has mastered solids, in the past, there wasn’t anything to feed babies that was between purees and solids. Gerber has recently come up with a new line of baby food to help parents with the transition from purees to solids.

You may notice your child start to imitate chewing motions. Your child is developing this skill to help sync their digestive system with their mouth and tongue. Once your baby starts imitating the chewing motion, you will probably also see them drooling less too unless they are teething.

How to Introduce Solids

When you want to begin introducing solids to your child, start with feeding them as you would normally. Give them breast milk or formula first. Then try 2 to 3 teaspoons of pureed baby food or cereal. If you are using cereal, you should mix it with breast milk or formula and make it similar to a soupy texture. Then place a small amount of food onto the tip of a plastic spoon.

If your baby doesn’t seem interested, you can allow them to smell it. It is best to try this when your baby isn’t cranky. Once you have tried to give your baby food and they don’t want it, then you can try it again at a later time. Your baby will let you know if he or she is interested. Then when your baby is interested, you can start feeding them baby food several times a day.

Getting to Know Gerber’s New Line

Welcome to Gerber Chew U

Last week, we had the opportunity to go to another bloggers home so that we could learn about the Gerber’s new line of foods called Gerber’s 3rd Foods® Lil Bits™ Recipes. My youngest was the one of the older children at the event but he had a great time. The host did a wonderful job helping us learn about Gerber’s new foods and did an amazing job decorating for us. I am excited for new moms to have the opportunity to feed their own children this new line of foods since I didn’t have the opportunity to feed it to my own children. The baby food market was seriously lacking foods for babies who were showing the signs that they were ready to make the transition to foods with more textures.

Moving on to Gerber’s 3rd Foods® Lil Bits™ Recipes

Gerber Chew U

Gerber is the only baby food company on the market that has spent over 120,000 hours developing and testing their new line of food. They even tested over 700+ samples to make sure that the food has the right texture and that baby’s approved. Their experts analyzed over 20 hours of video footage of baby’s sampling this new line of food. They have also invested over 150 hours of analysis and coding that was required to develop the food with the right consistency so that your baby is able to master chewing and mashing their first bit of solid foods.

The New Gerber’s 3rd Foods® Lil Bits™

Gerber developed 10 new Gerber’s 3rd Foods® Lil Bits™ recipes specially made to help crawlers learn to chew and mash their food. Each recipe contains just the right sized soft pieces of fruit or vegetables to each variety. Gerber’s 3rd Foods® Lil Bits™ recipes come in 7 fruits and 3 veggies.

Fruits are:

  • Apple Blueberry
  • Orchard Fruit Medley
  • Apple Banana
  • Banana Apple Strawberry
  • Pear Apple Berry
  • Island Fruit Blend
  • Banana Apple Mango

Veggies are:

  • Mixed Carrots, Corn & Butternut Squash
  • Butternut Squash & Potato
  • Sweet Potato Apple Carrots & Cinnamon

I love that the food comes in those plastic containers. I remember with my two older kids, if you ever dropped a jar of baby food you had a huge mess plus glass to clean up. With a crawling baby, getting all the glass shards up was a must. Babies always put things the find directly in the mouth. Thankfully, this never happened to me. Those plastic containers won’t shatter if their are dropped or your baby grabs it and tosses it off the high chair.

Gerber also discovered that babies who haven’t experienced lumpy foods before they were 10 months old often struggled moving from purees to eating table foods. As a mom, I am so excited to see this new line of food. I wish that it was around when my kids were little. Instead, my kids were forced to move to table food when they no longer enjoyed the texture of baby food. Which wasn’t long for any of my kids, because I slowly transitioned them to table food since there weren’t any other options available to me.

Your son is SO cute. We got the products and the shirt and I had Des wear it and we ate the food together. We both loved it!

Thank you. He was surrounded by girls that day. There was one or two other boys. We had fun at the event. I haven’t tasted the food yet but I’ll give it a whirl. 🙂

These are great tips to introduce solids to babies. Gerber is a trusted brand and my kids loved it when they were babies.

It is always best to give children homemade natural foods. However, when days get to be too busy, there is always Gerber, a trusted brand in infant nutrition! I will mention this Lil Bits variant to friends. Thanks for sharing.

When my boys were babies, I always fed them Gerber foods. I know there are other brands out there, but lets face it – Gerber is the best.

I think Thirds are a great idea. When my kids were little, it was baby food to tiny pieces of soft cooked whatever.

My kiddo is out of this stage, but I wish I had this when he was there. Its a great way to transition to solids!

Oh this is amazing! My youngest is now out of this stage, but this would have been excellent to help transition. All three of mine reacted in different ways and I really had to do a lot more homemade stuff with him because there weren’t options like this.

My neighbour has an almost 5 month old, and we think he’s teething now. I suppose that means he’ll soon be getting into solid food too hey?? SO fun!

My kids were babies back in the day when baby food came in glass jars and I had a spinning carousel to hold them. How great that they now come in plastic containers. Of course, Gerber was the only baby food I used. I still use their carrots to make carrot cake – no shredding carrots for this girl. 🙂

The first solid food that my son had tried when he was a baby was from Gerber. Gerber is our trusted brand when it comes to baby food.

My kids ate Gerber all the time when they were babies. It’s great that they’re expanding and covering all the aspects that are needed for new little eaters.

Your son is adorable! I remember feeding my oldest daughter Gerber Foods. Hard to believe that was almost 7 years ago.
