Medela Harmony Breast Pump

Learn How to Assemble and Use a Medela Harmony Breast Pump

Using Medela Harmony Breast Pump

The Medela Harmony breast pump has two-phase technology, which helps mothers express more milk in the less time.  It mimics the way a baby stimulates milk flow.  The first phase uses the top portion of the handle, near the breast shield.  This simulates the faster sucking motions that a baby does to get the milk flowing.  Once the milk is flowing, you can switch the second phase.  The second phase pumping motion, uses the lower portion of the handle.  This creates the slower, deeper suction motion.

Washing Your Medela Harmony

The Medela Harmony breast pump will need to be dissembled prior to washing your pump.  Then place all the pieces in a sink full of hot soapy water.  Don’t wash your breast pump parts and accessories in the dishwasher, to avoid damage.  Rinse off the parts and then allow them to air dry.  To sterilize the parts, you can boil water on the stove and place them in the pot or use Medela steam bags.  If you boil the parts on the stove, turn off the heat once it starts boiling and make sure that the parts don’t touch the bottom or sides of the pot.  Leave in there for at least 3 minutes.
