4 Ways to Label All of Your Childs School Supplies

Learn How to Keep Your Child From Losing Their Belongings – 4 Ways to Label Your Child’s Back to School Gear

4 Ways to Label All of Your Childs School SuppliesI can’t believe that school will be starting soon and in some areas classes have already started.  It is crazy to think about who fast this summer has gone by.  Last weekend I decided to take advantage of tax free weekend and I bought my children most of the items that they will need on the first day of school.  I also bought extra basic school supplies and refilled my box of extra school supplies so that I have all of the basic supplies that my child might need throughout the school year.  If you are like me, I love to label all of my children’s school supplies so that they can easily identify their supplies, lunchbox, and anything else that they have to take to school.  I haven’t had a chance to label any of their school supplies yet.  Do you take the time to label or mark all of your children’s belonging’s before they go back to school?  If so, how do you label each of your child’s items? Disclosure:  All information in this post is my own and may differ from your own opinions.  The opinions reflected in this post is based upon my own experience with labeling back to school items and articles of clothing.

Labeling Your Child’s Belongings with a Sharpie Marker

Sharpie markers are a great way to label your child’s stuff.  This method of labeling your child’s stuff is time consuming, especially, if you are like me and want to label each pen, pencil, crayon, marker, ect.  I am probably a bit OCD but I want to make it easy for my children to be able to easily identify their belongings.  A sharpie marker is fairly permanent and even works well for labeling clothing, lunch boxes, and all of their school supplies. Sharpie makers don’t work very well on items that have to be washed on a daily basis.  I have tried using a sharpie on my son’s bottles and sippy cups but the marker always comes off.  I need to find another solution to label his stuff so that I don’t have to constantly rewrite his name on his stuff.

I label everything with a sharpie, but there are still some clothes that end up getting “eaten” at school I think of it as the price of having a toddler!

Yes, my older son has lost several things at school. I wish I would have labeled the stuff that he lost.

Yes, I label my girls belongings as well. As for school supplies, it’s funny–because sometimes teachers don’t want you to label them as they share lots of the supplies. This year it seems my girls have super long lists…LOL! Great tips–thanks for sharing…and for stopping by my blog. 🙂

I still label my child’s stuff as well despite what the teacher wants. 🙂 Thank you for stopping by my blog too.

You always think of the stuff I will probably never think of. Labels are not only useful but can be really fun for the kids. Kids love things that are personalized for them.

I think the labeling and keeping track is a great idea. Things always get lost.

Yes, especially if your kids like to sneak stuff to school that they aren’t supposed to take. I have a few of those stories to share thanks to my kids. 😉

I also use a Sharpie to label my daughter’s stuff. Last year, she came home from school losing stuff on 3 consecutive days. Luckily she was able to get them back because they had name labels.

I’ve never heard of Mabel’s labels, but I’ll have to check them out. My kids are constantly losing there coats and lunch boxes at school. I wonder what the trick is to keep them from forgetting everything on the playground 🙂

Great ideas! Labeling is a certain way of personalizing your stuff and it is always good. What style do you use for labeling, with their complete names, just initials or nicknames?

    1. Christy Avatar

I personally use my kid’s full name on their stuff. Initials are great but sometimes kids have the same initials.

I don’t have any children, but I remember when I was a kid my mom always labeled my stuff. She used the ol’ black sharpie and a piece of tape. It really did help to keep all of my belongings in order so I very rarely lost track of my things. I’m sure when I do have my own children that I’ll label their things in some way.

I typically just use the sharpie on the garments tag. 🙂

Labels are also good and helpful for kids by making easy to identifying their items as most of kids have similar items in school.
