My baby is showing the signs that he is getting close to being ready to potty train. A few weeks ago, he started telling when he has a soiled diaper. He says, “I poop” when he soils his diaper. He hasn’t quite figured out the difference between urinating and pooping. I am excited and nervous at the same time because I feel like a first time mom when it comes to potty training. I don’t remember how I trained my older kids to use the potty. I know that I need to pick him a potty seat of his own at the store, but I am torn on what type of potty seat that I should buy for him.

What Type of Potty Seat Would You Choose: A Soft Potty Seat or A Portable Potty Chair for Your Toddler?
I have thought about buying him a potty seat that attaches to the current toilet. Our bathroom doesn’t really have additional place to store a standalone potty chair. However, if the older kids or guests want to use the spare bathroom they would have to remove the potty seat each time before they use the restroom. I always envision that the older kids will end up wetting their pants because they can’t get the baby’s potty seat off of the toilet fast enough. (that is another blog post..hehe)

I like the Disney one with the cars on it because it is cushiony and boyish. I never hauled around a portable potty chair with me. I always put a pull-up on them and then took them to the potty with me often if we were out and about. I didn't want them to actually use the pull-up but I also didn't want to take around a potty chair with me places because of the hassle and nasty clean up involved. Also, I let my boys walk around naked at home and even let them go outside and pee on the plants….haha….they thought this was fun and it helped to establish that connection that they needed to actually find a place (hopefully the bathroom) if they needed to go to the restroom.
I have been leaning towards the soft and cushiony potty seat, but wasn’t positive that is what I really wanted to do. The potty seat doesn’t have the messy cleanup, which I didn’t even think about when I wrote this post.
