A SteamVac is a Great Investment if you Have Young Children or Pets

A personal steam cleaner is easy to use and most come with attachments so that you can even clean your furniture or clean up small spots that need additional scrubbing.  I have also used my steam cleaner to clean my couch cushions.  Depending on the model of steam cleaner, some of models allow you to even steam clean your hard surfaces such as tile, hard wood floors, or linoleum.

The steam cleaner is portable and maneuvers similar to a vacuum cleaner.  It is a bit heavier than a light weight vacuum cleaner.  If you are going to clean the carpets, fill up the water reservoir with cleaning solution and water.  Then put tank into the spot on the steam cleaner.  Turn on the steam cleaner.  Then push the button on the steam cleaner while pushing the steam cleaner back and forth, so that it puts the water/cleaning solution on the carpet.  I personally go over the same small section of carpet twice to full clean my carpets.  Then I go back over the same spot several times to make sure that I removed as much water as possible.  Then I will repeat until I have finished my cleaning project.

Once you are finished using the steam cleaner, make sure that you dump both of the clean and dirty water reservoir and clean them.  If you don’t the next time you use your steam cleaner will have an awful odor.

What are the Pro’s of owning your own steam cleaner?

  • Easy to use
  • Available whenever you need it
  • Great for cleaning up spills
  • Light weight
  • Never need to run to the store to rent machine

Do you have a steam cleaner?

It can be a little costly —going in on one with a family member who lives close by is the way we did it.

Yes, they are costly. I am normally not a fan of going in with family on a product. I look at it as a long term investment. A company such as Dalworth, usually does 3 rooms for $99 if you can find a coupon. This cost doesn’t even cover your entire house. To me it is well worth the investment.

I haven’t tried out a steam vac before as we don’t really have carpet in the house but it certainly looks like a good investment.

I love having mine. The one I own had a hardwood floor adapter at one point.

Great point – the messes are endless in this house, with wins and a dog!

I can imagine but the messes are worth it. 🙂

We have both, a kid and pets. I’m only grateful that we don’t have carpet so it’s pretty easy to clean up fur when our dog is on his shredding months. My only problem would be the couch that I’m struggling to clean.

I have used our steam cleaner on several occasions on my couches. They tend to get yucky for some reason.

I don’t have a steam cleaner, and we always rent one from down the street. We only have 1 room with carpet, kids are grown and no pets, so for us the renting makes sense.

That makes perfect sense Courtney. 🙂
