If you would have asked me a few years ago, I would have told you that I never had a passion for writing because it wasn’t my strong suit. I also never imagined sharing my own thoughts and opinions with others. In 2009, I started my very first blog and it was a total flop. I picked a niche that I wasn’t comfortable writing about and it was very difficult to find my writing voice. In November of 2011, I decided to give it another shot and create a blog that I was passionate about. I am very thankful that I didn’t give up blogging when my first blog didn’t turn out the way that I had planned. As a blogger, I feel as if I finally found my voice and passion for writing. I am the first to admit that my writing skills may not be perfect but I have noticed that the more I write the more my writing skills improve. If you compared my very first blog post that I wrote over the past year and a half ago to a post that I have recently written you can easily see that my writing skills have improved.
I started blogging full time when I was laid off from my job in July of 2012 due to my own medical issues. I wanted something to keep me busy and I wanted something that would help me take the focus off of my own problems. I suffer from chronic low back pain and it prevents me from working a regular job with set hours. Blogging gives me the flexibility and opportunities that the corporate world doesn’t offer.
My blog is PR friendly and I am always seeking bloggers who are willing to submit guest posts and people who are willing to share their knowledge with others. I love connecting with other bloggers and building relationships through my blog and social media.
My name is Christy Garrett, I have been married to my husband for 5 years. I am a mother of three and enjoy spending time with my family when I am not busy working. We are a blended family and I am thankful that I have a husband who loves me and my two older children, from a previous marriage, as his own. As a family, we are very involved in church and we rely on God to give us the wisdom to raise our family. My husband and I try to be good role models for our children. We are fairly strict when it comes to the things that my children watch on tv, the video games that they play, and the music they listen too because we are a firm believer that what you put in is what you get out of your child. We aren’t perfect and we do make mistakes just like other families.

Your blog has really turned into such an amazing resource! I know that if I’m looking for specific things about my little guy, I am usually most likely to find it here. Thank you for all your wonderful insights!
Thank you Lexie. 🙂
Hey Christy, Congrats to you for sticking with it. It has been fun getting to know you through our blogs and comments. Sorry to hear about your back pain though. Are you feeling any better now that you are at home? I find just sitting at my computer all day my back gets quite sore. I am constantly icing it and going to the chiropractor.
So enjoyed learning more about you, your family, why you blog & why you chose this area. I listen from the mindset of grandparent & watch our children parent. Times are very different & challenging.
Family is everything and I am so glad that you have more time to spend with them!

Wishing you all the best Christy!
Love your idea of this post. Sometimes, I’ve suddenly realized that I don’t know much about a blogger/writer and find it thrilling to read their “about” page. You’re doing such a great thing, Christy. Hugs! That’s a wonderful mission statement! Thank you for connecting with me!

Great site Christy and great getting t know you a bit more:-)
We started close to the same time. 🙂 I like the name of your blog, it fits. 🙂 Finding a niche is SO hard! It’s taken me awhile too. Although I THINK I have found it.
I hope your back pain isn’t too horrible! Taking care of a family and back pain is NO fun!
I get low back issues from time to time, but it seems manageable when I do certain exercises. Otherwise it would go out constantly. Truly a pain!
Looking forward to the twitter party with you tonight! I think we are on at the same time. 🙂 (8 to 9 central time) 😀
