Are you currently expecting? Most parents always enjoy decorating the babies room a few weeks before the estimated due to so that they are prepared for the baby’s arrival. I remember when I was getting my youngest son’s bedroom ready, we didn’t have anything left from my previous children and had to get new stuff for my his bedroom. Today, I wanted to share some tips to create a healthier, eco-friendly nursery for your new baby.
With every passing day more attention is being drawn to eco-friendly measures. People who are all for the green lifestyle, are now looking for ways to bring the organic/eco-friendly environment into their baby’s life from the very beginning. This is a great initiative and so the aim of this article is to help those parents out by breaking down the main steps that are to be taken to achieve this goal.
Use Natural Woods
While choosing a crib or getting one made, make it a point to go for one made with natural wood. Traditional woods can get harmful stains and their finish might cause your baby irritation too. As for pressed wood cribs, they contain adhesives that might not be too good for your child. So go for natural, it is the only non-toxic crib wood out there.
Go For An Organic Crib Mattress
A lot of times parents put a lot of thought into the crib itself but settle for any mattress that seems alright. Remember parents, your baby will spend a lot of time directly in contact with the mattress. Conventional mattresses may release toxins into the air as your baby sleeps on them. So make sure the mattress gets the same amount of thought from you and always go for organic.
Choose Organic Crib Bedding
To match the healthy organic crib wood and mattress, make the crib bedding organic too. The normal cotton that is sold in markets is sprayed heavily during its growth. To avoid the baby having any exposure to the toxins induced through such sprays, go for organic bedding made from natural fabrics and with dyes that are eco-friendly.
