5 Ways to Save Money on Kids Wedding Clothes and Accessories

Shop Online For The Best Bargain

Wallao.com, has a ton of cute formal flower girl dresses for under $50 dollars and white or black tuxedo’s for the boys for under $30. Shopping online is a bit harder especially since some formal wear runs a bit different than your child’s regular clothing. If you plan on ordering clothing online, you should order it 6-8 weeks before the wedding in case you have any problems with the size, fit, or color. Always read the return policy before placing an order to make sure that you can return the dress/tuxedo if you have any issues and determine if there is a restocking fee involved. To find the right size of dress or tuxedo that you will need for your child you will need to take their measurements. You can measure your child your self using a tape measure or you can take them to the bridal shop or tuxedo rental shop for accurate measurements. Once you have your child’s exact measurements, don’t forget to factor in room for potential growth especially if the wedding is a few months away. It is better to order a bigger size and have it tailored to fit your child than to have an outfit that is too small.

Ask the Bride and Groom If You Can Purchase Alternative Clothing

If the bride and groom are flexible, you can ask them if they will allow the kids to wear alternative clothing choices.  I have seen some weddings where the kids dressed up in Sunday best and still looked appropriate for a fancy wedding. If is possible, find your child a cute dress that has flowers or a fancy solid colored dress.  The ring bearer could potentially wear dress pants and white long sleeve shirt with matching a vest/bow. Since most wedding attire is worn only one time, alternative clothing is a great way to get more use out of your child’s clothing and they can wear it again to church or other formal occasions after the wedding.

Accessories

If you are required to purchase the flower girl basket and ring bearer pillow, I wanted to share with you a great way to save some money on these items. When I was planning my wedding, I ended up buying most of my wedding supplies from JoAnn Fabrics or Micheal’s so that I could use their coupons. You can sign up to receive coupons in your inbox or you can even find them in their ad circulars. If you use coupons, you can usually get up to 40% off single item. Only one coupon can be used per transaction and you have to plan on spreading out your purchases.

You can even find costume jewelry on clearance at department stores.

Shoes

Don’t forget to purchase your child appropriate shoes to go with their wedding attire. If possible, wait until a week or two before the wedding to purchase your child’s shoes or use shoes that your child already owns if possible. If you purchase your child’s shoes too far in advance it is possible that they will outgrow them. Remember to purchase shoes that appropriate for the weather, if it is cold outside you don’t want your child to complain that their feet are cold because they are wearing open toed shoes or sandals.

Have your children ever been asked to be in a wedding?

The best part of your blog for me is when you suggested asking the bride and groom the color motif of their wedding, so it’ll be easier for you to shop for your child’s attire that can match the wedding party. My 4-year old son and I are invited to a wedding event. I’m unsure how I should dress my son because I have no idea about the details of the wedding. It will surely be easy for me to find the best suit for him by asking the bride and groom about the information on their wedding theme and motif. Thanks for sharing this.
