8 Father’s Day Gift Ideas for Your Athletic Spouse

With Father’s Day bearing down on us you might be worried about gift ideas for that special someone in your life. If your spouse is more excited about a jog than a bbq, or playing pickup basketball instead of watching hoops on tv, then these 8 gift ideas are perfect for them.

1.   New shoes

Chances are, if your spouse is very active and on the go all the time, then that means that their shoes are weaning down. A simple yet thoughtful gift for Father’s Day might just be a good pair of men’s athletic shoes. Their feet will thank you for such a thoughtful gift.

2.   Athletic wear

Clothes make the man, as they say. Get your spouse some nice athletic wear for Father’s Day. Anything from a pair of exercise shorts to a sweat-wicking tee shirt, will show that you appreciate your man looking his best while performing at his best.

3.   Sporting equipment

Depending on what kind of activities they like to do, a new piece of equipment is a great gift. Maybe a new set of clubs if they like to play golf? Or perhaps they might like a new tennis racket or hockey stick? If you do plan on getting them some new equipment, it might be a good idea to ask them for some details on what they would like. You’d hate to get them something that they return a week later because it wasn’t the right size or it’s a brand they don’t like.

4.   Headphones

A pair of bluetooth in-ear headphones are great for any athletic spouse. They allow you to work out, jog, or bike without worrying about cords tripping you up. The sound quality of these headphones have gone up tremendously in recent years and will allow anyone to get into the groove.

5.   Gym membership

Chances are your spouse already has a membership, but you could always renew it for a couple months for them or even buy them a couple sessions with a personal trainer. If not, sign them up to a gym nearby which fits their personal approach to fitness. Some gyms are higher intensity or more intimidating than others. You wouldn’t want to waste your money on a membership they never use. Be sure to reiterate that you got them this gift because you thought they would enjoy it, not because you think they are out of shape!

6.   Home exercise equipment

If your sporty spouse would rather work out from the comfort of their own home, then consider getting them some exercise equipment. Free weights are always useful in a work out. Other items to consider are resistance bands, a pull-up bar, or even a yoga mat.

7.   Exercise bike

If you are feeling very generous, you could give them an exercise bike. Pelotons are very highly recommended and they even have videos they can follow along to for easy workouts and support. An exercise bike is a great way to get into and stay in shape.

8.   Sports Memorabilia

If your spouse happens to be a sports fan, a piece of sports memorabilia makes a great gift. Try and get them something from their favorite player or team. Bonus points if it’s autographed or game worn. The added benefit is that memorabilia can be used as an investment. The market for something like sports cards has increased exponentially, so not only are you giving a great gift, you might even be buying something that may actually gain in value over time.

These are just a few ideas for gifts that an athletic spouse might appreciate. Whatever you choose, one of these items is sure to brighten up their Father’s Day.
