Potty Training With Pull Ups

Potty Training With Pull Ups

“I participated in an Influencer Activation Program on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Pull-Ups. I received samples for this review and a promotional item to thank me for participating.”

My youngest son was working on potty training at daycare when we pulled him out. I wanted to continue potty training but I was kinda lazy and didn’t force the issue. I knew that my son would let me know when he was ready to potty train. However, that didn’t work out quite like I expected it too. My youngest son was a bit stubborn and wanted me to guide him. I ended up buying some Pull Ups because I got a great deal on them.  I started off letting him wear Pull Ups during the daytime so that he could easily pull them down so that he could use the restroom when he needed too.

Create a Reward System That Works for You and Your Child

The daycare used gummy bears at school to give the kids as a reward for going potty. Since he was used to this type of reward, I decided to stick with it until I noticed that it became a game to my son. I didn’t mind rewarding him for going potty but he would use the restroom and a few minutes later he had to go again and again so that he would get a gummy bear. After I quit giving him gummy bears each time, he got lazy and would only go potty if we reminded him. I probably should have created a different type of reward chart but I always suggest going with things that you think are working for you and your child.

Many parents use sticker charts to track their child’s potty training journey. Once the child has fulfilled the requirements they get a reward. Kids usually do great with incentives and lots of praise and encouragement.

Using Pull-Ups For the First Time in Years

When I was at the store picking up my son’s Pull Ups for the very first time, I noticed that they had specially made Pull Ups for both boys and girls. After I got them home, I tried to get my son excited about using his new big boy pants. He loved the designs (Jake and the Never lands Pirate and Cars). I even noticed the fun design that was designed to help you teach your child when they are wet. The fun design fades away as soon as your child wets their pants. I even pointed this out to my youngest son to help him understand that he is supposed to keep his Pull Up Dry. Don’t worry if your child has an accident, stretchy sides that can easily be removed. Plus the stretchy sides make it easy for your child to put them on themselves.

Pull-Ups are Great for On the Go or While Traveling

When I really got serious about potty training my youngest son a few months ago, I used Pull-Ups when we were out running errands or travelling long distance in the car. My son was doing great potty training at home and kept his big boy underwear dry. However, I didn’t want him to have an accident in his clothes if we couldn’t get to a bathroom in time or he didn’t tell me that he needed to use the bathroom. Potty training in public can be a bit difficult especially if you can’t find a clean restroom for your child to use or your child can’t make it in time. So far I haven’t had any issues with this because my son is a bit older and can tell me that he needs to go to the restroom. I will be sharing some more tips on potty training on the go and in public bathrooms in the future.

We went out of town a few months ago, I ended up using Pull Ups on my son since I knew that we were in the car for several hours. The last thing I needed while we were out of town was wet clothes and car seat. Plus bathrooms aren’t always convenient to find while you are traveling. I made it a point to take him to the restroom each time that we would stop so that he could go potty.

    Hi Christy,

    That was interesting indeed 🙂

Honestly speaking, I think in our days and when I was training my kids, nothing really worked except the talk therapy and story time with them, though with time, they were on their own where potting training was concerned. I guess it’s a passing phase and most kids get over it, isn’t it?

Thanks for sharing. Happy weekend 🙂

That was nice to read, Christy 🙂 I think I need to share this with some friends, they’re having some trouble in their training!
