My daughter is very creative and I asked her if she had any ideas to help me with a Christmas craft. She responded, “yes.” So I got her to gather up the items that she would need for the project.
Items Needed:
Green Construction Paper
Red Construction Paper
Paper Plate
Glue (no glue sticks)
Green marker
Red marker
Scissors
Pencil
Directions:
- Trace your child’s hand onto the green construction paper.
- Carefully cut out your child’s hand print and then trace the original hand print to make enough to fit around the paper plate.
- Then trace and carefully cut out two red hand prints.
- Carefully glue the green hand prints onto the paper plate. You can put them close together or leave a gap, it is up to you.
- At the bottom of the paper plate, glue the two red hand prints on top of the green ones. The red hand prints represent the wreath’s bow.
- Once you have completed gluing the hands on, then cut out the enter of the paper plate.
- Use a green marker to color/fill in the gaps on the wreath.
- Write Merry Christmas and Year on red hand prints.
Our Finished DIY Hand Print Christmas Wreath
I love this craft because it captures my son’s hand prints. He is growing very quickly and I love capturing every moment that I can.

This is such a cute holiday craft for the kids to make, and something to hold onto over the years.
Pinned it, shared on G+ and twitter!
Thank you Karen. I have enjoyed participating with the group.
I love this craft! You will be pulling it out each holiday absolutely amazed at how much your lithe one has grown. Very special!
I will have to hold onto this craft and see how much his hands grow by next Christmas. Time has flown by so fast and he will be grown up like my other kids before I know it.
SO cute!! I am a sucker for handprint crafts!!! I <3 them SO MUCH!!! Definitely have to do this with my youngest 2!
THANK YOU for sharing!!!
We have done a few hand and foot print crafts on my blog. I may not keep the original piece but I have the photos.
So much fun! I love this time of the year. So many great crafts!
There are a ton of great crafts for this time of year. It’s crazy how fast the time goes by and you can’t get to everything that you wanted to do.
What a cute craft! I think handprint crafts are so personal, and if laminated, you can keep them (and maybe a new one each year), they get to see how much they’ve grown.
I wish that I owned a laminator. It would make these types of crafts last forever.
Aww, love that wreath! Utterly adorable!
Thank you.
Such a cute idea – will have to make with my son 🙂
Have you had the chance to make this wreath with your son?
I love it! this is a great craft for my boys to do this week.
I hope this craft keeps them busy next week. Mine are out of school now.
This looks like so much fun! I wish my kids were still small enough… Maybe I’ll pitch this to them and they’ll want to do it!
Good luck Robin. My daughter still enjoys crafts but it depends on what we are doing.
What a totally cute idea!! My preschooler will love making this with me.
I hope that you and your child had the opportunity to maje this cute wreath.
such a fun craft and a wonderful way to preserve those tiny little hands.
Yes, it is a great way to hold onto the memories of his tiny handprints.
I love finding ways to capture their sweet little hands. They just grow so quickly.
Me too. I love foot print crafts too.
That is so sweet and cute Christy. I love it. Every year we make a new one with hangers and ziplocs. but I want to try this next time 🙂
I love this. I am looking for some things for the girls to do during Christmas vacation and this one is perfect. They can both make this and give them to the grandparents.
What a great idea! I have to make this with my daughter, she loves to craft too!
Such a fun and easy craft idea to do with the kids. I love this one!
Thank you. I need to save it. I'm sure his hands will double over the next year.
Thank you Rosey.
Great idea. I hope your daughter enjoys craft time.
Esther, I hope their grandparents enjoy their wreaths.
[…] Last year my daughter helped come up with our fun craft last year. She is super creative and I loved her idea. She took a paper plate out of the kitchen cabinet and cut out the center. Then she took my son’s hand print and traced it. Then she made a template with one of my son’s hand print and she cut out enough to go around the edge of the paper plate.
