Simple Suggestions to Encourage a Stronger Family

A strong family bond is the key to internal well being. Providing love, comfort and support to the members of your family don’t even need words—just your presence is enough.

However, if you’d like to create a stronger bond with your loved ones, take a look at these simple ideas that are sure to promote a profound impact into the lives of you and your family:

Eating Together

There is just something about food and family that goes together like biscuits and gravy. Having dinner together is, for many families, a rare opportunity to be face-to-face with your either your kids, partner or spouse. Looking into the eyes of a loved one is your chance to see how they’re doing, ask questions and determine if something is wrong.

According to this CNN report, kids who eat together with their families consistently are more likely to have better social skills, grades, and a lower chance of developing drug, alcohol and smoking problem in the future. Don’t think you need create a five star, gourmet meal each day to avoid these issues. It’s not so much the food as it is the consistent routine of developing a constructive conversation, using food as your tool.

Make it fun! Call your favorite pizza place, or to make it even easier, order pizza with Paypal as a wonderful way for a fast, cheap and delicious family dinner.

Reading Together

Equip yourself with an armory of books! If your kids are younger, hearing the sound of your voice, while reimagining the story in their mind is a wonderful way to support creativity and a closer bond with you. By setting aside 20 minutes a day (or longer if you have the time) will give your kids so much more than a story.

Family Tradition

From Monday night hide n’ go seek to spooky ghost stories in the backyard every top of the month; a family tradition is your unique way of influencing a stronger family bond. The key to creating a family ritual is the build up of consistency, where the anticipation of the tradition makes it all the more fun and memorable.

Cooking Together

Whenever it’s possible, having mini sous chef around the house is excellent in a multitude of ways:

  • Building team learning skills
  • Developing a new perspective on food and health
  • Developing a mature taste
  • Introduction to work ethic
  • Gives them confidence to be more self sufficient
  • Learn to cook for themselves
  • And of course…bond with you!

Be Entrepreneurs

Set up a garage sale, put together a brownie stand, engage the whole family in DIY (do it yourself) crafts, the choices are endless. Whatever you choose to have your family participate in is a wonderful opportunity to initiate tricky conversations about money, goals and objectives, organization, pricing and a catalog of other basic economic lessons.

Get Away From the Home

Stagnate family bonding in the home can at times become trivial and unexciting. To add some spark back into your family’s bonding experience, go on picnics near the park or beach, spontaneous one-day camping trips or even set up the tent in the backyard for the night.

As a family, spending time together is one of the things that would keep you closer. Even if it’s just as simple as eating together is great. These things on the list are very helpful.

Cooking and eating together are really great suggestions! Getting kids into the kitchen at a young age and giving them age-appropriate tasks is also a really great way to foster the love of cooking in them so that they can better take care of themselves some day when they’re out on their own.
