In most cases, the baby shower is organized by a family member or a close friend. In some cases, you can make a baby shower for yourself if nobody else offers and you can even have several baby showers. There are no strict rules about how it is done and what is supposed to happen when you are throwing this party, so it is all up to you and your friends. The whole idea is to gather up your, in most cases, female friends and celebrate the fact that you are about to have the biggest change in your life as a woman. However, even since there are no strict rules about how to make a baby shower, here are some guidelines that can come in handy and useful.
Guest List
If you are not planning a surprise party as a baby shower party, then you need to sit down with the mother and talk about the people she would like to share that moment with. Family members and close friends are a must, but what about colleagues and other acquaintances? You need to determine how big you want your party to be and then choose the people accordingly. Also, if you are planning to have it a bit wild, perhaps it is not very wise to invite your mother and mother-in-law just in case. Besides that, make sure that you try to avoid any sort of conflicts and unpleasant situations between people who don’t speak with each other and similar stuff. It is an event that is entirely about the mother so make a list of people who will respect and cherish that.
Place and Time
There are several options for the place of your baby shower. You can have it at your own house, at a rented space or at the house of some of your friend. During the seasons of nice weather, you can even have it at your backyard. However, you need to take into account the number of people that will be there and the type of party that you are about to throw. It is too much to rent a hall for just 10 friends, while there is always an option of reserving a table in the restaurant. Simply look at the guest list that you’ve made and the perfect option for the event will come to you. As for the time, offer two or three dates to people on your guest list and let them choose the best time for everybody.

what a super helpful list–we had two showers this past summer….not planning another one for a while but I’m going to follow these steps.
Awesome, I hope this post helps you next time. I think sometimes the host feels overwhelmed with all the small details.
One of my good friends did a great job of organizing my baby shower. From then on, she became the official party organizer in our group – from bridal showers to baby showers to getting everybody together for lunch or dinner. 🙂
I would be so lost on planning a baby shower. I have helped set up for my sister in laws baby shower but haven’t planned every detail. My mother in law, sister in law ans my sister’s planned mine, they did an awesome job.
Great tips! I really enjoy going to and helping with baby showers.
Thank you, baby showers are a lot of fun. 🙂
Baby showers are super fun! My own baby shower was a surprise, thanks to my friends and husband who coordinated and planned the whole thing. 🙂
